Rolex Submariner No Date 5513

The Rolex Submariner ref. 5513 is one of the most iconic vintage dive watches ever produced, representing the purest expression of Rolex’s legendary tool watch design. Produced from 1962 until 1989, the 5513 is admired by collectors for its clean, symmetrical dial layout, robust construction, and enduring connection to the early era of professional dive watches.

This particular example, dating to 1983/1984, features one of the most distinctive dial variations found on vintage Rolex watches — the highly collectible “spider dial.”

The defining feature of this watch is its spider dial, a phenomenon that developed over time due to the unique lacquer used on certain Rolex dials in the 1980s. As the lacquer aged, it created a network of extremely fine hairline cracks across the dial surface, forming a delicate pattern that resembles a spider’s web, hence the nickname.

Rather than being considered damage, these dials have become highly sought after by collectors, as each example develops a completely unique pattern. No two spider dials are ever identical, giving the watch a distinctive character and individuality that cannot be replicated.
